In the history of City of London Corporation Cup target shooting competition, which was inaugurated in 1910, East Grinstead Target Shooting Club is believed to be the only club ever to get all three teams through to the final.
In a close fought shoulder-to-shoulder match at Surbiton, East Grinstead's 'C' Team comprising Sarah Davies, Jo Downing, Geoff Gilbert, Alan Lindsay and Graham Rowcroft won the competition outright with a handicap score of 1000.118, narrowly pipping Hampton into second place with a score of 1000.045, and winning the Corporation Cup. This was the second year running that East Grinstead 'C' had won the competition.
The awards didn't stop there. East Grinstead 'A' won the league competition and took the ICI Cup. East Grinstead 'B' won the Bosham Cup also for the league. Highest scorer in the individuals was Roger Walton of Cheshunt with 198, with Ian Farnell of East Grinstead at joint second with a score of 197.
